Meet Antonio Baciu
Service shaped by community.
Antonio Baciu is running for Cathedral City Council District 5 with a lifetime of service-minded experience, deep volunteer commitment, and a practical vision to keep Cathedral City moving forward.
A heart for local service
Antonio understands the value of a close-knit city.
Antonio grew up in a small city in Oregon, very similar in size and spirit to Cathedral City. That upbringing shaped his appreciation for neighborhoods where people know one another, look out for each other, and take pride in the place they call home.
After continuing his education at Bassist College and later attending the University of Oregon, Antonio moved to Southern California and began his career in the Los Angeles Garment District, gaining firsthand experience in business, operations, and customer service.
His Story
From hospitality to public service, Antonio’s path has always centered on people.
For more than two decades, Antonio worked in the hospitality industry — work he truly loved. That experience strengthened his belief that successful communities are built through service, professionalism, attention to detail, and care for people from all walks of life.
Small-city roots
Growing up in a close-knit Oregon community gave Antonio a lasting appreciation for neighborly connection, local pride, and civic responsibility.
Business & customer service
His early career in Southern California gave him practical experience in operations, customer service, and working with people to solve everyday challenges.
Two decades in hospitality
The hotel industry taught Antonio the importance of creating welcoming environments, listening carefully, and serving with consistency.
Fully retired and ready
As a fully retired resident, Antonio has the time, focus, and commitment to give District 5 his full attention.
Community Leadership
Antonio has already been doing the work.
For the past three years, Antonio has served as Vice Chair of the Parks & Community Events Commission, helping bring meaningful programming and events to Cathedral City. He also serves on the Finance Advisory Committee, where city budgets and Measure W revenue are reviewed.
His record is defined by showing up: perfect attendance, steady volunteer service, and a willingness to put in the hours needed to support programs that bring residents together.
Strong communities are built through open communication, accessibility, and trust.
Parks & Community Events
Antonio helped expand free community programming, including Yoga at the Amphitheater, Kids Summer Movies, and events that bring residents together.
Finance Advisory Committee
Antonio helps review city finances, priorities, and Measure W revenue to support accountability and voter trust.
Accessible Leadership
Residents should have direct access to City Hall.
Antonio wants to bring back “Council on Your Corner,” a bi-monthly meeting featuring rotating Councilmembers and the City Manager. He attended these meetings in the past and saw how effective their informal setting was for residents who wanted to ask questions, share concerns, and stay informed.
For Antonio, accessibility is not a slogan. It is how local government earns trust.
Why He’s Running
To keep Cathedral City moving forward with service, accountability, and practical results.
Antonio is focused on the priorities that shape everyday quality of life in District 5: safer neighborhoods, better roads, better parks, housing opportunities, public safety, animal welfare, and responsible growth.
Listening first
District 5 residents deserve a Councilmember who is available, approachable, and committed to hearing every voice.
Protecting neighborhoods
Antonio’s work on Measure B reflects his belief that quality of life and neighborhood stability must come first.
Investing wisely
Through Measure W oversight and city finance review, Antonio understands the importance of delivering results where residents need them most.
